Focusing on psychological assessment and educational evaluation in my practice allows me to provide you with a high quality of care in my area of specialty. Evaluations are individualized for every child. I commonly work with kids and teens who have (or are suspected of having), dyslexia and other learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, depression, and anxiety.
Even if you are only concerned about one aspect of your child’s functioning, I conduct a comprehensive assessment for almost every client. I structure my services in this way because I am committed to assessing the “whole child,” which includes identifying and leveraging your child’s strengths. Your child’s positive qualities and unique talents will be a key part of their long-term success and well-being.
In addition, many children have multiple areas of challenge. For example, 30-45% of kids with ADHD also have a learning disability. Learning disabilities often make kids anxious in the classroom and impact their self-esteem. Likewise, depression and anxiety can significantly affect attention and academic performance. In this way, all of these areas of functioning are connected. Assessing only the primary area of concern is very likely to miss important aspects of your child’s profile and leave you with an ineffective treatment plan. In rare cases, it may make sense to do a more focused assessment. If you think this may be you, please feel free to call or email to discuss your situation.
